About Our Forums

CISNE forums are held the first Thursday of every month from 8:30 to 10:00 am (skipping January and July). We invite agencies, advocates, educators, and organizations throughout Monterey County to participate. Each forum focuses on a topic chosen through community feedback, with panelists sharing critical services, resources, and upcoming events — so attendees leave better equipped to serve the immigrant families and individuals in their care.

There are no fees to join and no obligation to attend every forum. Please fill out our contact form to receive emails and invitations to collaborate.

Food Assistance & Pesticide Exposure Resources

🥗 Food 🌿 Health

This forum addressed two critical issues for Monterey County's farmworker and immigrant communities. Project Foodbox presented their fresh food delivery program, helping low-income families access healthy meals. The County of Monterey's Environmental Health Department provided guidance on pesticide and toxic exposure risks and the resources available to protect workers and families.

Mental Health Resources

🧠 Mental Health

This forum brought together three key organizations to address mental health needs in Monterey County's immigrant community. ALAS (Ayudando Latinos a Soñar) shared culturally sensitive mental health services for Latino youth and families. NAMI presented national and local resources for those living with mental illness. Monterey County Behavioral Health outlined available programs and how community members can access care.

Tenant Rights & Healthcare Charity Programs

⚖️ Legal 🏥 Health

This forum focused on two important areas: tenant rights and healthcare access. The Center for Community Advocacy (CCA/VIVA) informed attendees of their rights as renters and available legal protections. California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA) provided guidance on legal services for low-income and farmworker communities. Natividad Medical Center presented their Healthcare Charity Program, helping uninsured and underinsured residents access medical care.

⚖️ Legal & Immigration

This forum provided timely immigration updates and practical resources for community members navigating the current landscape. Solidary Network Monterey County shared community support services. Immigration Attorney Armida Mendoza outlined legal rights and available representation. U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta's office connected attendees with federal resources and outlined legislative efforts affecting immigrant communities.

Essential Winter Resources in Monterey County

🤝 Community 🥗 Food 🏥 Health

This forum highlighted critical winter resources available across Monterey County. United Way presented community programs and their 211 resource hotline connecting residents to food, housing, and health services. Everyone's Harvest shared information on local farmers markets and fresh food access for low-income families. The Alliance outlined Medi-Cal managed care options and health coverage available to community members.
